G-BrewFest - 04 August 2012

G Fest 2012 this year became the G Brew Fest, held on Saturday 4th August.

To mark “10 Years On” this annual event held at Pool Bridge Farm became a BrewFest with 10 Guest Beers and 4 Ciders, a Hog Roast, all with live music from  Grinny Grandad, Nicky Humberside and Ish Herd. A few well-known “Yorkshire Sports” were played including Welly Wanging, Splat the Rat, throwing beer barrels backwards at posters of celebs and testing both golfing and goal scoring skills.

Then came the traditional, strongly contested G-Ulp Half Yarder Challenge. Deafeningly cheered on to take the trophies were men’s champion  Chris “Chopper” Baker in 10.6secs and the ladies’ trophy was won by Emma Wilson in 10.8 secs. The fastest times for downing cider came from Sam in 12.4 secs and Callum in 12.6 secs. Very many thanks to the Fletcher family for the use of such a great venue and to Geoff and Barbara of Wold Top Brewery for running the bar. Everyone who attended was given an engraved commemorative half pint glass and bottle of “Why Guy?” beer specially brewed for the occasion.
