It was a wonderful day! The sun shone again and 101 runners raised awareness of bone cancer and funds for research as they enjoyed the picturesque route along the river side, past York Minster, down some of the historic cobbled streets and back to the racecourse. They were cheered on by fantastic groups of family and friends with BCRT banners and balloons and all were in good voice! On their return, our runners received special medals with the Why Guy? logo encircled by a rose as it was also Yorkshire Day.

Guy's Friends

Just over £5,000 was raised to be passed to the Bone Cancer Research Trust to fund much needed research into bone cancer. Very many thanks to everyone involved. Also to BBC Radio York which gave us much coverage during the morning, to the Nuffield Health Gym for prizes for our fastest man and fastest lady and to the donors of the medals and of the prize for the person who raised the most sponsor money.

Relaxing afterwards

Paul BarnesGuy’s best friend Paul Barnes was thrilled to meet football legend Sir Geoff Hurst who was one of the celebrity starters of the 10k Run. Sir Geoff scored the winning goal for England in the football World Cup final at Wembley in 1966.
